PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A 2-year-old child has died after being dragged from a backyard pool at a home in northern Phoenix on Saturday night after being hospitalized. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, crews responded to a house northeast of Interstate 17 and Thunderbird Road around 6 p.m. over reports of an unconscious child in the family pool. The crews arrived and found a family member performing CPR for the boy who was not breathing. The child was taken to a nearby hospital in extremely critical condition but later died, Phoenix police reported. He was identified as Owen Kuemper by the police. The family member did not know how long the boy was underwater. Local Phoenix police told the Arizona family the boy entered the pool through an unlocked pool gate.
