A man who violated a protection order was shot dead by an officer outside a house in Phoenix, police say PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A 42-year-old man who was in breach of a protection order was rushed to hospital after an officer – involved filming in Phoenix. It happened around 5 p.m. on Sunday near 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road. (Source: 3TV / CBS 5) Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus says the suspect appeared in a house where his two teenage sons were. Jupiter says the family had a warrant to protect the man, and when he came into the house and tried to get in, the teenagers called the police. When the officers showed up, they found the suspect in the driveway, armed with a gun. “The man aimed the gun at the … officer, and then there was the shooting,” said Jupiter. “There was an exchange of fire between the officer and the suspect.” The suspect was taken to hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured. Police say no more shots were fired and there was no threat to the community before the police arrived. “As soon as I saw the helicopter flying around, I told my wife that something was going on,” said neighbor Michael Leung. “And when I got outside, I saw all these officers over here. And that’s when I saw them get the guy on the stretcher and take him to the ambulance. ”The detectives plan to be there all evening to gather evidence and question witnesses. Police said another house in the area was shot at by the suspect. “This was a protective order,” said Jupiter. “This is a pretty routine call that officers make. It just goes to show that there are no routine calls for our officers … they never know what they will face when they arrive. ”During the investigation, investigators learned that the suspect’s car had been set on fire. He reportedly took another car at gunpoint near 28th Drive and Cactus Road before being shot by officers. He had forced the car owner to drive him a few blocks from the area. The victim was not injured and was able to drive away after the suspect got out of the car. According to police, the suspect is in critical but stable condition and will be charged with several charges after his release. No other injuries were reported. Jupiter says the officer involved in the shooting is 26 years old and has been in the Kaktuspark area for about two years. The investigation continues. At around 5:00 p.m., officers were called to a house near 39th Avenue and Thunderbird about a man violating a protection order. The man was armed with a gun and exchanged shots with an officer.
