PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A woman was arrested in connection with a shooting that killed three people in a house in Phoenix over the weekend. Police say Brandon Lujan never called 911 or tried to help his family knowing they were all dying. According to court documents, 38-year-old Raylien Loest allegedly drove 34-year-old Brandon Lujan to his parents’ home in Phoenix near 32nd Street and Thomas Road on Aug. 7 at around 11 p.m. and his 7-year-old daughter in her white Jeep Cherokee. About half an hour later, Phoenix police responded to the area for reports of shots being fired, but officers were unable to find victims or evidence of a shooting The patient, who was later identified as Lujan, told hospital staff he had killed his brother, 30-year-old Matthew Lujan, and his parents, 63-year-old Lewis Lujan and 56-year-old Irene Lujan. Officials came and spoke to Lujan, who told investigators he killed his family in their home – the same neighborhood officials were there the night before. The police went to the house and found that all three victims had been shot multiple times and were dead. Lujan was arrested at the hospital and taken to police headquarters. During the investigation, the detectives learned that a white Jeep Cherokee and a Mercedes Benz owned by Lujan’s brother left the house shortly after the shooting. Officers were able to locate the Jeep Cherokee after it was towed to park in front of a fire hydrant. Investigators tried to track down Loest for questioning after the murder, but couldn’t find her until they found the jeep. On August 10, Loest was arrested and taken to Phoenix Police Headquarters for questioning. Loest claimed she dropped Lujan at the house and learned of the fatal shootout later the next day when she saw the news. Loest denied knowing about the shootings and asked for a lawyer. The investigators then interviewed the 9-year-old and 7-year-old daughters of Loest and Lujan. The 9-year-old daughter told police that on Saturday night, when the jeep was parked in front of Lujan’s parents’ house, she heard Lujan say he was going to “kill Lewis, Irene and Matthew”. She also reportedly told the detectives that Lujan had shown her his gun several times and she knew the “sound”. She said she heard Lujan pull the gun and saw him go to the house where he met his brother Matthew. The 9-year-old said she heard several gunshots, screams from the house and then more gunshots. She said Lujan came back to the jeep for a minute, then Loest drove away. The girl said that Loest had told her and her sister not to tell anyone what happened that night. When the detectives questioned the 7-year-old daughter, she said nothing about what happened. Based on the evidence the detectives gathered at the scene and in the vehicle, and the testimony of Loest’s 9-year-old daughter, police arrested Loest and booked her on charges of obstruction of law enforcement, tampering with a witness, and tampering with evidence by the assignment of a witness for withholding information related to an investigation into the triple murder.
