PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A woman suspected of being under the influence of alcohol was arrested after a person was killed in a multiple vehicle accident in western Phoenix over the weekend. According to court documents, 29-year-old Asheley Alvidrez’s toxicological report revealed she had a blood alcohol level (BAC) of 0.145. Officers reportedly smelled the alcohol on her when they arrested her on July 24 after an accident near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road. Officials also asked Alvidrez to take field sobriety tests and she “did poorly,” police said. Officers reported that Alvidrez was driving a Chevy Tahoe east along Thomas Road when she left a Mazda near 72nd Avenue. The Mazda crossed the median heading west and collided with a Kia and a Toyota Camry. The Kia driver, 43-year-old Fabiola Vargas-Bracamontes, died on the scene. Arrested in fatal accident involving multiple vehicles in western Phoenix The driver of the Mazda suffered multiple fractures and the driver of the Camry was rushed to hospital with a head injury. A fifth car swerved to avoid the accident. Alvidrez has been charged with grievous bodily harm in two cases, one for reckless homicide and one for endangering.
