The 39-year-old former mayor and former presidential candidate will soon oversee the nation’s largest injection of cash into the transportation sector since the 1950s. Buttigieg’s agency is tasked with distributing $ 120 billion in grants provided by the Infrastructure Act. In July, when members of Congress were negotiating the infrastructure bill, Buttigieg traveled through Arizona to see how the state could benefit from the legislation.
