TEMPE, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – Several accidents temporarily shut down US 60 going west on Mill Avenue Monday morning. The lanes to the west were previously closed on Priest Drive, where the accidents occurred. At around 2.30 p.m. the lanes to the west were released again. According to the Ministry of Public Security, one person died and several others were injured. According to DPS, a Kia Sorrento was traveling west on US 60 and was approaching Priest Drive when it hit the center wall head-on. The impact overturned the vehicle, with part of the wreck landing on a Tesla. A semi-trailer then crashed into both vehicles. A woman in her late 70s who was a passenger in Sorrento died of her injuries, DPS says. The driver of the Sorrento is critically injured, two other people were slightly injured, according to DPS.
