PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – One man is dead and another is recovering from a shootout in a bar near 16th Street and Southern Avenue in Phoenix late Friday night. According to Mercedes Fortune, it happened around 10:15 p.m. Officials received reports of shop shooting after a brawl. When they got to the scene, they found 32-year-old Walter Wood with a gunshot wound. Paramedics tried to save him, but he still died on the scene. The officers then learned that a second victim was shot dead during the fight. This person, a 34-year-old male, was taken to a nearby hospital by a friend. He has not been identified. Fortune said his injuries were serious but not life threatening. Investigators are working to summarize the events that led to the fight and the shootings that followed. Fortune said police still have no description of the suspect.
