PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Phoenix police announced Wednesday that they had arrested the mother of two young children who were found dead in their home last week. Sgt. Andy Williams says Retta Cruse, 35, has been booked on suspicion of first degree murder. The bodies of 9-year-old Aleyah and her younger sister, 4-year-old Royal Mcintyre, were found last Wednesday evening. Cruse was rushed to the hospital “because he is believed to be suffering from multiple self-inflicted stab wounds,” Williams said that night. Retta Cruse MCSO “The girls were found on a bed, facing each other, arms around each other as if they had been put in that position,” the police wrote in the statement on the likely reason for the arrest. “There were no obvious injuries to either girl.” Investigators believe Cruse “used prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs to calm and overdose the children.
