PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – According to newly released court documents, the man who was accused of assaulting and cutting his girlfriend at her apartment in northern Phoenix on Friday morning was believed to have been watched by people. Suspicious ID after allegedly stabbing a woman in Deer Valley. Phoenix police officers responded to reports of a woman crying for help around 10 a.m. in an apartment near 23rd Avenue and Rose Garden Lane, east of Interstate 17. According to police papers, the responding officers found that the woman was badly injured on the right side of her chest and the right side of her neck and was bleeding profusely. Officers were told that the woman’s boyfriend, 43-year-old Shawn Menoche, was still barricaded in her home. After a while Menoche came out and collapsed on the doorstep. Authorities saw that Menoche cut his arms several times. Menoche reportedly still resisted arrest and had to be anesthetized before being detained and taken to hospital for his injuries. The woman was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. After the operation, the woman spoke to detectives and explained what had happened. She said Menoche acted weird and that she caught him using drugs the night before. When she woke up on Friday morning, she said Menoche was standing at the end of her bed with a cardboard cutter on his neck. She told authorities that when she reassured Menoche, he asked her to check the vents “because he believed someone was hiding there.” The woman said she thought she had persuaded Menoche to hand over the box cutter he was holding, but he suddenly had “a blank expression on his face and was pushing (the woman) onto a bed”. When the woman tried to defend herself against Menoche, he cut her several times, claiming that the woman was cheating on him. When he noticed she was bleeding, Menoche stopped and lay down on the floor, according to court documents. The woman then ran out of the apartment to find help. The owner of the apartment rushed home after hearing what happened and told officials that Menoche acted strangely that morning. Before going to work, he said Menoche made statements: “There are people who look at him and they hide under the cars.” The apartment owner told Menoche to relax and go for a walk, and then he went to work. Menoche was released from the hospital after recovering from his injuries and was booked in the Maricopa County Jail. Menoche faces grievous bodily harm, grievous bodily harm with serious injuries, and resisting arrest. A mug shot of Menoche was not available at the request of Arizona’s family.
