PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Homeowners near 35th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road say there has been a mysterious rattle that is more regular and frequent. “In the beginning it was just a jerk and we felt it like 2 or 3 times a year,” said Timothy Jackson. “Yesterday it was about 20 times an hour, just a steady shake.” Timothy has videos of his windows rattling during one of the episodes. He said he built his house in 2000 and the tremors started about five years later – but it’s never been this bad Jackson, Timothy’s wife. “It’s very unusual, but when it happens it really scares you because you don’t know if your windows are going to break, your house is going to collapse, you just don’t know what it is.” cracked inside her house as well, as well as a few spots outside. “I have probably about 30 cracked tiles in different places,” said Timothy. Several homeowners in the area have shared the same experience. “A lot has happened lately and it’s really annoying, really hard to go to bed,” said Everett Salazar. “It’s just a constant tremor, like a constant, constant one. It just doesn’t stop. Well it will, but like after a few minutes. ”People who live in the area said it sounded like a jackhammer and felt like pressure waves. “You get a little lethargic when it happens like you feel dizzy first and then quickly goes away, but right before it hits, it’s like you’re just not 100%,” explained Timothy. The tremors and rattles are a mystery to the neighbors, but they believe it came from the landfill across the street that belongs to Phoenix City. The website went offline in 2005, around the same time Timothy said he started feeling the tremors once or twice a year. They said they had monthly surveillance systems and nothing showed anything abnormal. The city has now contacted a consulting firm to conduct tests. City officials say they are keen to find answers for homeowners and will continue to monitor the landfill. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
