PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A man who was shot outside a grocery store in Phoenix last Thursday has died. Phoenix police officers were called to a QuikTrip store near 27th and Peoria Avenues at around 12:40 p.m. on April 1 after a reported shooting, Phoenix police officers say. They found a 29-year-old man who had been shot. The man, later identified as Sean Reed, was taken to hospital in extremely critical condition. A 22-year-old security guard stayed on site and was questioned by the police. The guard told police that he was aware of a verbal argument between Reed and a 25-year-old woman in the parking lot next to her car. As the guard approached them, the argument became tangible and the guard shot Reed. The supermarket and gas station were closed for hours after the shooting while police logged evidence from clothing on the floor behind a gray car in the parking lot. Investigations into shootings near 27th and Peoria Avenues are ongoing. Kara Bare was stopping when the shooting occurred. “I heard a loud bang, a shot, and I saw a homeless man get up off the floor and kind of look like it was serious. And then when I got to the parking lot you couldn’t get in there but you could hear a girl screaming and everyone was standing around everywhere, “she said. Other witnesses say a man and his girlfriend got into a brawl and a security guard was involved.” I just jumped out and grabbed a towel and ran back to him and lifted his head and I was just trying to help him, you know, “Bare said. Although Reed was bleeding profusely on his head, Bare said he was conscious when paramedics picked him up. The guard was released while the police were investigating.” Whether indictments will be brought has not been updated. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft) All rights reserved.
