PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A man was arrested Tuesday in Phoenix in connection with the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. According to the federal complaint, FBI officials say Micajah Joel Jackson was among the crowds of former President Donald Trump’s supporter and attended the storming of the U.S. Capitol during a joint session of Congress. The videos appeared to have been recorded by someone later identified as Jackson by officials who broke through the building after the crowd smashed windows and doors to get inside. Jackson allegedly said he knowingly entered and stayed in the U.S. Capitol without permission. Jackson also confirmed the Instagram accounts known to the FBI as his. Jackson said he went to DC to attend the rally scheduled that day and said the orange ribbon on his arm was given to him by the Proud Boys of Arizona. Jackson claimed he knew nothing about the Proud Boys and was unrelated to them before January 6, and only met with them because he wanted to meet other people from Arizona. Jackson is charged with knowingly entering or staying in a restricted building without the legal authority to do so, with the intent to obstruct or disrupt the proper conduct of government business in a restricted building, and willfully and knowingly make noises , utter threatening or offensive language, or behave in a messy or disruptive manner anywhere on the premises of one of the Capitol buildings.
