PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A man was arrested after allegedly killing his estranged wife and baby girl for a domestic violence report in Phoenix on Monday night. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that 32-year-old Lanae Mouton and her 11-month older daughter Ava Mouton had been shot. The couple were taken to hospital where they later died. According to court documents, it all started when 34-year-old Louis Mouton III came to speak to Lanae Mouton about their estranged relationship. Louis and his estranged wife met outside the apartment to chat. Shortly afterwards, Lanae went into the apartment to bring her 11-month-old daughter inside. A single shot could then be heard outside the apartment, then Louis kicked the front door open and held a gun in his hand so the police could hide it in the closet. Louis then followed Lanae and kicked in the bedroom door. Then he went up to her and, according to court documents, shot her several times. Louis was still home when the officers arrived and were taken into custody. According to police, Louis attempted suicide after the shooting, but the gun was empty. He then told the police that he had schizophrenia. Louis told police he had heard and seen ghosts and aliens, was frequently possessed by them, and they used his body to do things that court documents said he couldn’t control. Louis then told officers that he had made a deal with a ghost that he and his wife could be together forever, but they both had to die. According to police, Louis remembered speaking to Lanae outside the apartment, but then passed out, remembering that he was standing next to her in the closet and pointing a gun at her. Louis then passed out again and remembered being in front of the apartment parking lot. According to court records, Louis told police that his wife should die but his daughter did not. Louis told officials he did not agree to have his daughter killed with the deal he made with the ghost. Louis is charged with first degree murder, once for first degree murder during a felony, and once for burglary. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
