PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Parts of Interstate 10 will be closed on the weekend due to an improvement project along the Broadway curve loop 101 Santan / South Mountain Freeway to the US 60 interchange in Tempe. All ramps on Loop 202 to I-10 to the west will also be closed as crews begin clearing asphalt. Alternatively, motorists can access the Loop 101 Price Freeway via the Loop 202. The tracks are expected to reopen on Monday at 4 a.m. If we see heavy rain, the project can be postponed. Expect lots of closings on weekends and weekdays for quite a while. “There will be dozens of restrictions and closings over the next three years,” said ADOT spokesman Kim Noetzel. “Given the size and scope of this project, we found it very important to do a lot of things that we had never done before.” This includes paying for advertisements about the project on billboards, on the radio, and on TV to get people to see remember the construction difficulties are imminent. ADOT has carefully planned the closings and construction around any major event with more than 30,000 attendees that avoids these events. “Noetzel said. The closure marks the start of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project, which extends Interstate 10 to will include six general purpose lanes and two HOV lanes in each direction between US 60 and Interstate 17. The project will also add a fourth lane in each direction between Ray Road and US 60. Learn more about the project here the Arizona family’s traffic page for current road conditions.
