PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Police say a driver dodging a pedestrian on the street ran into and killed another one early Friday morning in west Phoenix. It happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Bethany Home Road in the 35th Avenue area. According to police, a man was standing in the left turn lane of Bethany Home, waiting for his girlfriend, who had fallen. A driver driving west spotted the woman and avoided meeting her, but did not see the man. The victim, who was not identified, died in the hospital. According to the police, the driver who hit him stopped and stayed at the scene as required by law. According to investigators, it doesn’t appear that the driver’s impairment was a factor in the accident. Bethany Home Road was closed between 36th and 38th avenues while police conducted part of their on-site investigation. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
