ATLANTA, November 19, 2021 / PRNewswire-PRWeb / – Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP), a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the nurturing and enrichment of the photographic arts Atlanta art community, today unveils its most innovative public art installation in the organization’s history: the Phoenix Photo Mural. The Augmented Reality (AR) -enhanced work installed in 10th Street Park in Midtown Atlanta blends in with the expansive concentration of ground-level art that is already through Midtown Alliances “Heart of the Arts” program. The Phoenix Photo Mural will remain on display in this location for a year.

Visitors to the Phoenix Photo Mural experience art in public space like no other in the region. The web-based AR function developed by Atlanta-based dragon army activated with just a QR code and smartphone camera. Once activated, viewers experience a reality beyond the surface of the mural as The Phoenix rises and allows a deeper look at the 20 individual photos that combine to form an artistic representation.

More than 200 artists from all over Georgia advertised over the summer via an open call and were selected by a renowned jury: Gregory Harris, Donald and Marilyn Keough Family Curator of Photography, High Museum of Art; Mark Johnson, CTO and Lecturer in Photojournalism at The University of Georgia; Robert Poole, associate, Alston & Bird; and DL Warfield, award-winning visual artist and creative director. Selected photos show the collaborative spirit of the city through captivating images of our incredible people, places and events.
