PHOENIX – Valley Freeways will be free of restrictions this weekend, with the exception of part of Loop 101 in north Phoenix. The westbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Seventh Street and Interstate 17 from 10:00 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. on Monday in order to avoid the last lane as part of an expansion project, the Arizona Department of Transportation said. The State Route 51 driveway to the north to Loop 101 to the west and the Loop 101 driveway to the west on Cave Creek Road will also be closed to the project. Lane lanes will also occur several miles east of the closures, causing the eastbound lanes of Loop 101 between Tatum Boulevard and 64th Street to be narrowed to two lanes in the same period.
