Phoenix Man Uses Life Alert To Call 911 If House Burns PHOENIX – A man and his dogs who live in a trailer on the grounds of a house in downtown Phoenix are safe after early morning hours of Jan. A fire burned down the house on November 11th when the fire broke out in the empty house near First Avenue and Lincoln Street at around 5:40 a.m. Life Alert Monitor to call 911. The fire was upgraded to a first alert incident as crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. (Phoenix Fire Department) Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. “Both of them got off safely, we could evacuate them from their trailer, just get them to a safe distance,” said Captain Evan Gammage. “We also have our crisis units on the line to basically help them with any needs as their power and electricity will go out this morning.” A quick-thinking man who lives on the property jumped into action with the help of a life-saving device. “Anyway, I got up and went out and saw the awning of the house on fire and I just couldn’t think about it. I didn’t know if to get out so I finally got myself out, ”said Linwood, a resident who lives in a trailer on the property. He wore a life alert monitor. He pressed the button and called for help. “I just couldn’t believe it and my next thought was, ‘Am I going to get out of here? I have animals and they didn’t want to go and finally I got it all out. I’m just so sorry that happened.” “He said. Linwood escaped unharmed along with his pups Mercedes and Hush Puppy. The unoccupied house is a total loss. His trailer has some damage, but he says that if you saw the positive side, it could have been much worse.” “I’m grateful God is with me to help, I’m sure,” said Linwood.
