PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – First responders made a disturbing discovery when they found the bodies of two children in an apartment in Phoenix on Wednesday. The fire department was called to the complex near 13th Street and Mountain View Road, north of Dunlap Avenue, at around 6 p.m. There they discovered the bodies of 4-year-old Royal McIntyre and 9-year-old Aleyah McIntyre. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family. The Washington Elementary School District confirmed that Aleyah was a fourth grade student at Sunnyslope School. She started at the school as a third grader last semester. Her sister did not go to school at WESD. The district said it has a crisis response team at Sunnyslope School to help those in need. She was reportedly in critical condition but should survive. Officials also arrested the children’s father, who worked with detectives and was released, Williams said Thursday morning. Detectives did not say what led to the deaths. It is up to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner officer to determine how and when the children died. This is not the first time the police have visited this particular apartment. Williams says the father called the police in March 2021 after he and the mother got into a verbal argument. Williams says no crime was committed, so no further charges were filed. The story shocked the neighborhood. For Maria Contreras, she received a call from her nephews who said the police and fire department were in the complex. “They heard noises but couldn’t describe what kind of noises,” said Contreras. Two little girls were found dead in their Phoenix apartment on Wednesday night, and police suspect their mother may be responsible. She was surprised that something like this could happen in this area. “It’s actually pretty quiet here,” said Contreras. “It’s a really nice neighborhood. I don’t know why this is happening. “Teri Potter, who lives a few doors down from the complex, came to put large angel wings and candles on the fence in front of the apartments.” They are angels now, “she said.” I didn’t know her. I just know there are children and it’s really annoying that something like this could happen. I mean, your whole family is going through it. “Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Broadcasting Company).
