PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Police say they arrested a man who was accused of killing a woman who was found dead in a house in Phoenix on Friday morning. Phoenix police say they found 41-year-old Sheronda Dyer dead in her home near Broadway Road and Loop 202 (South Mountain) just before 11 a.m. The police noticed a gunshot wound. The police quickly learned that Dyer had a boyfriend, Eddie Lauderdale, 35. Dyer and Lauderdale share a 3-year-old daughter. Dyer’s daughter from a previous relationship told police her mother planned to end her relationship with Lauderdale before the shooting took place. The daughter told police that she found her three-year-old sister at the end of the driveway with blood on her clothes and shoes, according to court records. Lauderdale wasn’t home. Police later found Dyer’s cell phone in a trash can next to a bus stop near 43rd Avenue and Van Buren with blood and grenade shells on it. On Saturday, Lauderdale reportedly called the police to turn himself in. In an interview with the police, he admitted that he had an argument with Dyer at home. Lauderdale claims Dyer went to her car to get a gun, so he went to her bedroom, grabbed a gun and fired 9 shots, hitting Dyer. Lauderdale told police he then left the house, abandoned her 3-year-old daughter and admitted to throwing the cell phone away. Lauderdale has been charged with first degree murder, gun possession by a Prohibited Person, and child molestation. Lauderdale also admitted to detectives that he had a previous crime conviction and was serving a four-year prison sentence, making him a banned owner. Lauderdale said he made no attempt to restore his rights. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
