PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A man is accused of shooting his parents and brother at their home in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. It happened near 32nd Street and Thomas Road. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Brandon Lujan on Monday, allegedly went to another location and told someone there that he harmed his family at their home on Check Family Welfare, no one answered the door. The officers eventually broke inside, where they found three dead adults. They had all been shot. “There weren’t any kids,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune. “So it’s the suspect’s mother and father and the suspect’s brother.” Fortune identified the victims as Irene Lujan, 56; Lewis Lujan, 63; and Matthew Lujan, 30. Police say the Lujan brothers were involved in a brawl prior to the shooting. Detectives believe Brandon shot his parents after shooting his younger brother. Fortune said officials arrested Brandon at a medical facility near 7th Street and Indian School Road, about 3.5 miles from Lujan’s home. Police say there were calls about gunfire in the Lujan neighborhood on Saturday night, but detectives are investigating whether these are interrelated. Arizona’s family spoke to a neighbor who heard the gunshots. “I go to the end of my driveway. I get out there and maybe a minute later I hear nine shots, five and then four … separated by maybe 3 seconds.” “That was domestic violence,” said Fortune. “This is something our detectives will be looking at. They will review calls for the service. They will review previous reports. They will actually look at activity between family members before the shooting.” (Source: 3TV / CBS 5) The police booked Brandon Lujan on suspicion of murder. “It’s tragic,” said Fortune. “It’s really tragic; our officials and our community are affected when there is a crime like this. ”A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the family pay the funeral expenses.
