GLENDALE, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – Are you ready for soccer … traffic? The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is warning drivers that they should expect heavy traffic on I-10 in the hours leading up to the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs game on Friday. The kick-off for the preseason game at State Farm Stadium is scheduled for a little after 5 p.m., but matchday traffic combined with rush hour traffic jams is expected to result in major delays on Interstate 10. ADOT says that on Interstate 10 going west through downtown Phoenix and west on I-17 as well as on sections of Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) approaching the Glendale stadium. Fans traveling to the game should allow extra time and try to get to the area near the stadium early. The stadium parking lots will open four hours before kick-off. East Valley drivers may consider using the North Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) to westbound I-10 as the route to the West Valley. Rather than using I-10, motorists can also consider using loop 101 west and south west of I-17 to head towards Glendale.
