PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A suspect is dead after a shooting in Phoenix Thursday night. Officials answered around 9:00 p.m. in a neighborhood southwest of I-17 and Northern Avenue person calls the house all day, but everyone did wrong calls. According to Phoenix Police Sgt. Andy Williams, officers came back to the house for reports of an injured person. The man reportedly made several statements that led to the assumption that he had a mental health problem. When they arrived a man came out and said he had a gun. Then he aimed the gun at the officers, and they opened fire and beat him. The gun resembled a handgun, Sgt. Williams said. Police later discovered that the suspect’s weapon was a water pistol. A total of three officers and one sergeant fired their weapons. The suspect was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. He was 64 years old. No officers were injured. Further details were not published. This will be the 33rd execution of police officers in Maricopa County in 2021.
