The Lucas Oil 150 on Friday night marks the debut of Wright’s Truck Series at the famous Arizona Speedway.

Kris Wright Truck Series Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway Stats: The Lucas Oil 150 on Friday night will mark Wright’s debut in the Truck Series on the 1.0-mile circuit.
However, Wright took part in the season finale of the ARCA Menards Series West in Phoenix last year. After starting 12th on a Chad Bryant Racing grid, Wright recovered from a lap 1 incident and finished 18th.
Martinsville (Va.) Speedway | United Rentals 200 Race Summary: Wright made his 16th career start with the NCWTS in the recent race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in Martinsville.
Wright started in 26th place based on the metrics set by NASCAR with no practice or qualifying and struggled with handling issues with his # 02 at the start of the race FNB Corporation Chevrolet Silverado. Great adjustments by crew chief Steven Dawson propelled Wright through the field and into 13th place in the lead lap.
The performance was the best of his career for Wright over a short stretch in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, marking his second Top 15 result of the season after finishing 12th in February at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway the season had reached.
Driver Intel: Outstanding road racer Kris Wright continues his rookie season at Young’s Motorsports with the United Rentals 200 on Saturday afternoon in Martinsville.
The former IMSA and Formula 3 driver is breaking into the Truck Series scene this season after playing for Chad Bryant Racing and GMS Racing in the ARCA Menards Series for much of the 2020 season.
Wright took three top 10 finishes in six races, including a top seventh of his career in the season finale at Kansas Speedway last October.
This season, in addition to the Truck Series, Wright has spent time competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Sam Hunt Racing on the street courses and a number of races in ARCA for Rette Jones Racing.
Solid pace for Young Motorsport: With one race remaining in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season, Young’s Motorsports ranks a respectable 21st place in the series ‘owners’ standings with a handful of drivers.
In addition to Wright, former Truck Series winner Kaz Grala, NASCAR Xfinity Series winner Josh Berry, outstanding NASCAR Cup Series Daniel Suarez and USAC Triple Crown Champion Chris Windom have all won the # 02 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet in the 21st Piloted the race of the year 2021.
In one of the most competitive Truck Series seasons of all time, the team collected a top five, two top 10, six top 15 and 13 top 25 performances.
Young’s Motorsports is 10 points behind 20th place in the drivers’ championship of the Truck Series, which is currently secured by David Gilliland Racing.
Calling the shots: Guiding Wright as crew chief of No. 02 FNB Corporation Chevrolet Silverado is crew chief Steven Dawson.
A longtime Young’s Motorsports employee, Dawson will not serve as crew chief until his third NCWTS race. In 2017, he led Austin Hill to a respectable 17th place at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway after finishing 27th.
Last weekend, as crew chief, he achieved a hard-fought 13th place in the 204-lap race, the best result of his career.
Dawson, 33, is from Concord, NC
Kris Wright Pre-Race Quote:
On phoenix: “I am thrilled to be coming to Phoenix this weekend with the Young’s Motorsports Team and our No. 02” FNB Corporation Chevrolet Silverado. I’m really proud of our team, which made great strides last weekend in Martinsville, and I think we can demonstrate that pace on Friday night too.
“Although I don’t do laps in a truck in Phoenix, I hope that the laps in the ARCA car last November will be helpful in addition to practice and qualifying, which I will drive in the truck before the race.
“It’s been an influential season for me in the Truck Series and I thank everyone at Young’s Motorsports for giving me the opportunity to race.”
