Woman killed, pedestrian hurt in crash near light rail in Phoenix | Phoenix Traffic

PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A woman was killed and a pedestrian was seriously injured after an accident near the light rail station on 40th and Washington Streets in Phoenix Tuesday morning. The crash happened just before 7 a.m. Arizona Family News Video Arizona Chopper showed two cars smashed on the tracks of the light rail. According to Phoenix Police, a Chevrolet Camaro driven by 28-year-old Austin Clark drove too fast and didn’t stop at the red light at the intersection, resulting in a collision with another car driven by a 40-year-old Mrs. The woman, identified as Madalena Mendonca, died in the hospital. In Mendonca’s car was a 19-year-old passenger who is still in critical condition in the hospital. After the first crash, one of the cars resumed inspection and hit a 64-year-old woman who was crossing the road at the side of the road. Her injuries were minor.
