PHOENIX – (BUSINESS WIRE) – 11/02/2021–

Recent results from the University of Phoenix’s Ruffalo Noel Levitz Priorities Survey for Online Learners (PSOL) showed high levels of satisfaction among currently enrolled online students. As measured by a national online learner group that also included students from public and private institutions, the University of Phoenix students showed up to 12 percentage points higher satisfaction with their university experience on all 26 survey items on Academic Services, Enrollment Services, Institutional Perceptions, Educational services and student services.

The University’s Assessment & Institutional Research (AIR) department managed the Online Learner Priority Survey (PSOL) for University of Phoenix students. Ruffalo Noel Levitz’s PSOL instrument measures student satisfaction and priorities, especially in online undergraduate and graduate programs at two- and four-year institutions. The survey, which is carried out among 89,261 online students from over 150 participating institutions, identifies what is important to students and examines their satisfaction with these points.

“The University of Phoenix strives to meet student expectations and needs as they progress in their academic journey,” said John Woods, Ph.D., chief academic officer and Provost. “We are satisfied with the results. Our strengths underscore our commitment to students in terms of accessibility, convenience and alignment with career paths. “

Over 2,400 students took part in the survey. High priorities for students included: “Career alignment with my academic program” (90% student satisfaction); “Open communication channels with my faculty and other students” (88% student satisfaction); “Online course experience that fits my busy life” (86% student satisfaction); and “Online registration is convenient” (92% student satisfaction). The survey results showed a high level of satisfaction among students with the areas they rate as very important to their online learning experience.

The survey also identified three areas of opportunity for further exploration for the university that include student engagement in the classroom. The students rated the points “quality of online teaching is excellent”, teachers “responding to the needs of students” and teaching feedback “promotes my learning” with a high significance of 93%. Each of these items had a satisfaction rating of 79%, 81% and 82%, respectively.

Compared to the aggregated national online learning group, the students of the University of Phoenix reported a satisfaction rate between two and 12 percentage points higher for all 26 comparable survey items. In addition, the University of Phoenix students reported a higher “overall satisfaction” (satisfied or very satisfied) with their online college experience (81%) than the national online learner group (72%).

“As an institution focused on our working adult students, we used this survey to assess where we are doing best and what we can do better. Like any university, we always try to find out from our learners what they are doing well with us, where we can get better, and then take steps to improve, ”said Dr. Woods with. “We would like to further improve the academic experience and the career orientation of our students on their further academic and professional path.”

This is the first time AIR has conducted a survey of university students on behalf of the University of Phoenix.
