National Career Development Month highlights the opportunity for a high quality MBA degree

At the University of Phoenix, the availability of digital ID cards offers a new tool for proving skills as part of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

Digital badging is the culmination of a skill mapping process in program and curriculum development. The University of Phoenix relies on the Bureau of Labor Statistics and a strategic collaboration with Emsi Burning Glass, a leading provider of labor market research, to identify skills currently in demand. The University of Phoenix used this research and data analysis to map the in-demand skills to the MBA program. Digital badging enables learners to share their new skills on digital platforms and with their employers.

An example of how skills mapping leads to digital badging is the university’s Leading Change course in the MBA program. Research and data show that business people need to understand how to build healthy and effective corporate cultures. Assessing corporate cultures is a skill that is traced back to the course. Tasks include evaluating an organization’s culture and performance and creating a change management plan using these insights to implement changes. Students can use this plan to show their employer or potential employer that they can lead change by understanding the company culture. In return, after successfully completing the task, the students receive a digital badge that they can display on their résumé, on social networks or on job boards.
Two of the University of Phoenix’s most popular programs, the Master of Business Administration and the competency-based Master of Business Administration, are currently fully mapped to skills. The accredited MBA programs are fully online, taught by faculty with an average of 26 years of experience, and cost $ 698 per credit; The competency-based MBA costs $ 300 per credit and can be completed online within 12 months.
