PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE) – The University of Phoenix is attending the SHRM conference, West Hall, Booth # 12063, announcing how an agreement with CareerStep, Carrus’s Allied Health Training division, provides learning paths for those looking for opportunities to further their education and improve their careers in Allied Health. Through this agreement with the university, CareerStep can also provide interested healthcare employers with access to career development opportunities from CareerStep and help their employees stay up to date on the latest treatments and techniques in many related health professions. Some of CareerStep’s professional development opportunities may even be eligible for college credits through the University of Phoenix.
“As medical knowledge continues to grow rapidly, we are excited to work with the University of Phoenix to offer training options to both individual learners and employers,” said Misty Frost, CEO of Carrus. “Ensuring that healthcare professionals have the latest skills is critical as it impacts every interaction in patient care and there are multiple ways for professionals to help patients and provide valuable support.”
Many of today’s health care professionals operate in the Allied Health field, which includes professionals who support the health system through a range of diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, and support services. Nevertheless, there are critical and persistent staff shortages in the Allied healthcare system. For this reason, CareerStep offers a wide variety of training options to help healthcare employers retrain employees and train them for popular positions.
Through this alliance with the University of Phoenix, many of CareerStep’s affiliated health programs can also support an accelerated path to graduation from the university. Learners taking the CareerStep courses may meet certain credit requirements for future coursework at the University of Phoenix. Details on the number of credits awarded for each CareerStep program can be found here. Those interested should also speak to a University of Phoenix enrollment advisor about the details.
“We know that today’s workplace is constantly evolving, especially in the last two years of the pandemic, and that the reality of healthcare is acute,” said John Woods, Ph.D., Provost and Chief Academic Officer, University of Phoenix. “This agreement with Carrus’ CareerStep program is an important step in our drive to be a more flexible and accessible provider of health training and professional development for young professionals and health professionals who want to improve their skills.”
CareerStep’s online programs include Medical Coding and Billing, Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Hemodialysis Technician, and more. When offered as professional development programs, programs provide hospitals and health systems with the opportunity to train and retain their staff.
