CLEVELAND, Ohio – United Airlines resumes service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to Las Vegas and Phoenix, adding two popular routes flown during the airline’s hub days. The service on both routes is expected to be seasonal from mid-December until the end of March. The airline last flew regularly to Las Vegas in 2016 and to Phoenix in 2014. United will face competition on both new routes. American and Frontier Airlines both fly from Cleveland to Phoenix; Frontier and Spirit fly to Las Vegas. And Southwest Airlines only flies to both destinations on weekends. With the new additions – along with new and ongoing flights to numerous destinations in Florida and the Caribbean – United will, according to its own account, “fly the most of the departures the airline has flown since Cleveland Hopkins International Airport,” in 2014, “the year in which the airline closed its hub here. The airline noted its ongoing service from Cleveland to four cities in Florida, as well as weekly flights to Cancun. Last month United announced a new weekly non-stop service from Cleveland to Nassau, Bahamas. Thursday’s Cleveland News was part of a broader announcement from United, highlighting the continued focus on domestic recreational routes as the coronavirus pandemic continues to depress demand for business travel. The announcement also included new and resumed routes to Florida from Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Milwaukee as well as flights to popular ski destinations in the western United States. According to United, the airline plans to offer more than 3,500 daily domestic flights in December, representing 91% of its domestic capacity compared to 2019. The airline also said that searching for vacation travel on united.com and the airline’s app will change compared to 2019 16% up data and offering a December plan that focuses on the two things people want most for the holidays: warm sunshine and fresh snow, ”said Ankit Gupta, vice president of net work scheduling and scheduling at United. “We know families and friends love to get back together this holiday season, so we’re excited to add new flights that will help them connect and celebrate together.” December, Departure from CLE at 8 a.m., arrival in Phoenix at 10:45 a.m.Departure from Phoenix at 11:40 a.m., arrival in CLE at 5:25 p.m. Plane: Boeing 737CLE to Las Vegas Start: December 16, Departure CLE at 6:45 p.m., arrival in LAS at 8:40 p.m. Depart LAS at 11 a.m., arrive at CLE at 6 a.m.Plane: Boeing 737Read more: Allegiant Air withdraws from Cleveland Hopkins Airport $ 2 billion plan to rebuild Cleveland Hopkins Airport is not an issue in the mayor’s race ; should it be?
