Tina Sweeney ready to become Phoenix’s 1st female Postmaster

PHOENIX (AP) – Tina Sweeney is ready to become Phoenix’s first female postmaster. Sweeney, in her 29th year as a postal worker, was due to be sworn in at the city’s main post office on Friday. She began her post career in Utah in June 1992. Since then, Sweeney has served as a customer service supervisor and customer service manager at four different locations in Salt Lake City. She also served as Postmaster in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria and most recently Head of Post Office Operations in Arizona. In her role as Phoenix Postmaster, Sweeney will oversee more than 1,400 employees at 19 stations, branches and retail units. Sweeney is also responsible for delivery operations, which include more than 790 urban and rural routes serving over 694,000 delivery points.
