This weekend’s closings, restrictions, and diversions on the 3½-year, 11-mile-long Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project are moving closer to downtown Phoenix and around Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. -ADOT graphic Work moves into the second month of the 3½-year, 11-mile-long Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project with the next round of closings, restrictions and diversions this weekend. The eastbound I-10 will be closed from State Route 51 / Piestewa Freeway to State Route 143 / Hohokam Freeway from Friday, August 13th at 10:00 PM through Monday, August 16, at 4:00 AM remove the rubberized asphalt and set up the work area. This round could have the biggest traffic impact yet as the works move closer to downtown Phoenix and around Sky Harbor International Airport. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect heavy traffic and allow extra travel time. Numerous eastbound entrances to I-10 will also be closed: Westbound Loop 202 / Red Mountain Freeway. Southbound SR 51. Southbound Interstate 17th Third Street. Seventh street. Jefferson Street. McDowell Street. Buckeye Street. 24th street. 32nd street. Drivers traveling east on I-10 and SR 51 south can take Loop 202 / Red Mountain Freeway east to Loop 101 / Price Freeway south, US 60 / Superstition Freeway west and then on At junction 60, head east on I-10 again. Motorists heading south on I-17 approaching I-10 at the “Split” interchange near the airport can take I-10 west to Loop 202 / Red Mountain Freeway east to Loop 101 in Head south on US 60 going west to access I-10 going east. Airport traffic southbound on I-17 should note that the ramps on Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street are also closed. Airport traffic should exit on 16th Street, left on Buckeye Road, then turn right and follow signs for Sky Harbor Airport. Drivers can also use airport exits from I-10 to the west, such as Buckeye Road, or Loop 202 or SR 143 to the east. Those coming from the West Valley towards I-10 East towards Tucson can avoid the work zone by using Loop 202 west / South Mountain Freeway to connect with I-10 east at Interchange 202 in near the Phoenix Premium Outlets.
