PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – When the city of Milwaukee was inundated with thousands of fans celebrating a championship parade, downtown Phoenix has little pedestrian traffic, a stark contrast to the crowds that bars and restaurants for almost two months during the Suns -Playoffs welcomed run. “It’s pretty sparse; I think a lot of people are heartbroken. A lot of people are sad and stay home,” said Fabian Avenaut, general manager of Phoenix Bourbon Room. Phoenix Suns Fans Rejuvenate After Emotional Playoff Roller CoasterYou can hear a pin drop in downtown Phoenix restaurants compared to the thousands of fans who came to town for a surprise playoff run by our Phoenix Suns. “Amazing foot traffic, the games went great, especially the home games,” said Avenaut. “Unfortunately we lost this last home game, but that was the busiest since the opening day.” It’s a similar scene at Majerle that hasn’t seen so much business since Super Bowl 49 in Glendale. Maybe a game seven would have broken their record. Avenaut has prepared for this in the Phoenix Bourbon Room. “We were appropriately staffed, we were ready to go! We took as many reservations as possible by a certain deadline,” said Avenaut. “Game seven would have blown up the city, we would have a fantastic day.” But for now there is silence in downtown Phoenix, a familiar feeling for a city still waiting for its first NBA championship. “There’s always next year,” said Avenaut.
