PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – Police arrested the man who shot a man and stole his car in Phoenix over the weekend. It happened late on Saturday night near 15th Avenue and Indian School Road. Police arrested Marco A. Mendoza, 32, on Sunday afternoon on suspicion of murder, armed robbery and possession of a gun by a banned person. According to investigators, Mendoza approached the victim, a 36-year-old man in his vehicle, aimed a gun at him and asked for his car. When the victim refused, Mendoza shot him, reported the police. The victim died in hospital early Sunday morning. According to police, Mendoza took the victim’s car, which was later found abandoned. Investigators say evidence at the scene helped them come up with a likely reason for Mendoza’s arrest, but they didn’t provide any details. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft).
