PHOENIX – A former fire station near Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix is set to get a second life as a restaurant, and the City of Phoenix wants small, local businesses to be involved in proposals for adaptive reuse of the fire station on Streets First and Moreland, but ahead of the request, the city is holding a “Shark Tank” -like business pitch event. At the event, local companies can present themselves to developers or suggestion teams to become part of the proposed project. The organizers of the event said that all kinds of companies are welcome to showcase their product or service, from food production to creative services to building services, local artisans and any other type of company that could work with a team to create the new one Restaurant created. “This is a really great small business opportunity,” said Michelle Pierson, assistant director of community and economic development for the City of Phoenix. “It adds a local and small business feel to a cool project.” The event called Firehouse Fastpitch gives companies a three-minute window to complete the pitch and an additional two minutes to answer any questions. Participants who intend to submit a proposal can choose which companies to work with, if any, and add them to their proposal teams. Read more about this story in the Business Journal.
