(17.09.2021) The Phoenix Police Department has signed an order to upgrade its helicopter fleet for the police with five new H125 helicopters. Deliveries are scheduled to begin next year. The H125 has double hydraulics, two-channel FADEC, a crash-proof fuel system and advanced cockpit displays with a glass pane. The H125 accounts for nearly half of all single-engine intermediate helicopters delivered for airborne law enforcement missions in North America in the past decade. It is being built at Airbus Helicopters’ manufacturing and completion facility in Columbus, Mississippi, by a team that is 40% US veterans. “When we started our fleet renewal, we spent a lot of time analyzing which platform would best fit all of our operational needs, and the H125 met all of our needs,” said Paul Apolinar, chief pilot of the Phoenix Police Department. “Our responsibility is to protect and serve the Phoenix community, and these planes will not only allow us to protect ourselves from the skies, but will also enable us to conduct rescues in remote locations across Arizona. We needed an aircraft that would excel in hot temperatures and the H125 really is the best aircraft for the job in such conditions. ”Airbus Helicopters has a team of more than 700 people who run local manufacturing and assembly facilities for the H125 aircraft and UH-72 Lakota in Columbus, Mississippi. The company also provides training, aftermarket support, and technical assistance from Grand Prairie, Texas for the North American regional in-service fleet of nearly 3,100 helicopters. “The H125 is one of the most popular law enforcement helicopters in the United States for good reason,” said Ron Kelley, segment manager for airborne law enforcement at Airbus Helicopters, Inc. “Its versatility and high performance make it an ideal platform for a variety of law enforcement missions, including Aerial surveillance and search and rescue operations, and is a proven solution that is always ready when it is needed most. ”Watch the latest travel industry news, video interviews, podcasts and other news: Phoenix, Airbus, H125, Helicopters , Police, security, EMS, SAR.
