A native of Phoenix received a major commendation from the US Navy on June 30th. The Navy announced in a press release that Shawn Kennedy, Machinist’s Mate 2. It was presented by US Navy Captain Cassidy Norman, commander of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis. The ship is currently in the Newport News Shipyard undergoing an overhaul and refueling ready to return to the water in defense of the U.S. Navy.
