PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – The CDC said Thursday that fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or practice social distancing inside or outside, on public transportation, in hospitals and in places where governments require masks. The music industry could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the new guidelines. This month the Celebrity Theater is hosting its first indoor concert in more than a year. CDC says that in most cases, fully vaccinated people can take off the masks indoors. “There’s a lot of excitement. I think the audience is excited,” said Drew Birgensmith, general manager. The Phoenix venue will open at full capacity on May 29th. Birgensmith said, however, that they have no plans to regulate who has been vaccinated or not. The venue still encourages people to wear masks. “We play it safe. We don’t say no to face masks, but we also don’t say it will be enforced,” said Birgensmith. He fears that the new guidelines will only put more strain on entrepreneurs. “I don’t know how to regulate who is vaccinated and who is not,” said Scheimann. “We’ve been through a lot to stay open and stay afloat. Then it’s harder to put that on us again.” Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
