Posted by Colin Kellaher McKesson Corp. announced on Wednesday that it has closed a deal to sell several European companies to private healthcare provider Phoenix Pharma SE and that it is reviewing options for its remaining European operations. McKesson, a drug wholesaler in Irving, Texas, said Phoenix will take over operations in France, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium and Slovenia; its European headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany; his German wound care business Recucare GmbH; its shared services center in Lithuania; and its 45% stake in its Brocacef joint venture in the Netherlands. The financial terms of the deal, which is slated to close next year, have not been disclosed. McKesson said it was determined to explore strategic alternatives for its remaining European businesses in the UK, Norway, Austria and Denmark, adding that it would focus future investments on growth strategies outside of Europe.
