PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A violent crash over the weekend killed a Phoenix couple and left their families heartbroken. Phoenix police said 25-year-old Lupe Orosco was driving too fast near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road when he lost control and hit a truck. The car caught fire while police say Lupe and his female passenger, girlfriend, 35-year-old Amanda Ramirez, were trapped in the car and died. Investigators say the black sedan Guadalupe Orosco, 25, and Amanda Ramirez, 35, were “too fast before they lost control and caused the collision”. “She knew I love her,” said Amanda’s father, Manuel Ramirez. “I just wish she didn’t have to go so fast.” “I’m not the only one who hurts,” said Lupe’s father Timothy Orosco. “My wife hurts. My children are hurt. Family and friends are hurt.” The family says the couple wanted to get married and they had two young children together. “I should be gone first, but 35 years old and she is gone,” said Manuel. Timothy says his 25-year-old son wanted to get his life under control before the crash. “A week before his accident happened, I asked, ‘Son, you’re driving too fast. Take it easy, son. You’re going to get into a wreck,'” said Timothy. Police said it would be weeks for a toxicological report, but they believe speed was a factor in the wreck. The truck driver is fine. “This is all the end result of the biggest mistake there could have been, that we lost two family members,” said Lupe’s stepmother Kristie Orosco.
