Heavy snowfall in Flagstaff created dangerous conditions on the roads on Monday. PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – The Arizona Department of Transportation says winter weather has resulted in several highway closures in the Arizona highlands. The roads in the north are said to be dangerous, and travel conditions are expected to remain difficult until Tuesday. “Drivers are encouraged to postpone travel in the highlands until the storm is over. Those who choose to travel in a storm should be prepared to spend a long time on the road and use chains or all-wheel drive,” ADOT said in one Press release. According to ADOT, the freeways affected are: (as of 2:00 p.m. Wednesday) US 191 from mile post 225 to 254 (south of Alpine) State Route 89A between Sedona and Interstate 17; and Jerome to ClarkdaleState Route 89 from north of Peeples Valley to south of PrescottState Route 288 in a westerly direction between Milepost 259 and 311 have been closed. On Wednesday ADOT reopened the SR 260 between Heber and Star Valley.
