At least 1 killed in wreck on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix

PHOENIX – A person died early Monday when a trailer of a car transporter detached itself and landed on the truck carrying it on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix, authorities said. The wreck blocked two right lanes of the highway heading north near the Carefree Highway around 4 a.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said. There were two people in the truck, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. UPDATE: I-17 NB near Daisy Mountain Dr .: Middle and right lanes closed due to an accident. Only the left lane is open.
