FANNIN COUNTY, Texas, Oct 12, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Pattern Energy Group LP (“Pattern Energy”), a global leader in renewable energy, announced today that it has successfully completed the construction and commissioning of its 83 MWac Phoenix solar project Fannin County, Texas.

Phoenix Solar uses the highest quality components, including First Solar Series 6 modules and NEXTracker NX Horizon trackers. Mortenson Construction provided engineering and construction services to the project. Phoenix Solar has signed a power purchase agreement with Digital Realty for 65 MWac and 12 years.

Digital Realty’s previous renewable energy sourcing includes 100% renewable energy for their European data center portfolio, 100% wind power for their US colocation business unit, and 100% carbon free and renewable energy for several Northern California and Illinois Properties. In addition, the US Environmental Protection Agency named Digital Realty one of the 100 largest buyers of renewable energy in the country.
Over 200 jobs were created during the construction of the new solar system. Phoenix Solar offers strong benefits for Fannin districtwhich recognizes both immediate and long-term economic impulses from the project. The new facility is said to be more than $ 12 million in new tax revenue for the Bonham Independent School District and more than $ 3 million to Fannin district over the term of the project. In addition, it will contribute income in the form of long-term lease payments to project landowners.
The Phoenix Solar system expands Pattern Energy’s existing operating platform in Texas to a total of 1,037 MW of clean electricity that is in operation at six plants across the country. Pattern Energy recently opened its Gulf Wind Facility in Kenedy County with new, state-of-the-art turbines.
