Phoenix Suns Arena Is Now Footprint Center

PHOENIX, AZ – The Phoenix Suns have teamed up with Gilbert-based sustainability company Footprint to finalize a naming rights deal for the downtown employee area. The deal, unveiled on Friday by Suns owner Robert Sarver, will instantly change the sector’s title from Phoenix Suns Arena to Footprint Center. “We were one of the first to introduce a number of technologies that will help us make the planet a better place, and that is part of giving back community and being good community partners,” said Sarver. “And our agreement with Footprint is something we believe will be one of the most unique corporate sponsorships in any sport, and that will change our arena.” Opened in 1992, the downtown area was known as the America West Arena from 1992 to 2006; the US Airways Center from 2006-2015; Talking Stick Arena from 2015-2020; and Phoenix Suns Arena since 2020. Footprint, founded by Troy Swope and Yoke Chung, aims to create change by eliminating single-use plastic. Sarver mentioned that the employees’ determination to work with Footprint was largely due to the company’s connections with the field, in addition to their drive to rid the world of plastics that harm wildlife and fragile ecosystems. “We started out with a broad network of companies at home and abroad that could be a good fit for us,” said Sarver. “And as part of that, we decided to look into our own back yard and say, ‘Who is it that is local that we should be talking to?’ And as part of that process, we’ve got to know Troy and his team over the past few months. “The extra time we spent with them understanding their product and activities and how they will turn out to be a family title.” Sarver said the team’s decision to partner with Footprint was largely due to their belief in the company Reclaiming the work Swope and the company are doing to help the environment. “We actually bought into what they did,” he said. “And the extra we bought to get to know him, I hung around the factory, bought their administration, we bought their administrators, they bought us to get to know each other. “At the end of the day, we both felt very comfortable that we could implement this and work together as a team in the future.”
