PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – One person was killed and several others injured in a five-car accident on Southbound Interstate 17 near Pinnacle Peak Road early Sunday morning. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the accident happened around 12:50 p.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Four more were taken to the hospital; their terms were not available immediately. 6:42 p.m. UPDATE-17 heading south remains CLOSED due to an accident on Happy Valley Road, all traffic must exit Happy Valley Road, expect delays and seek alternative route.
