BUMBLE BEE, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – Interstate 17 reopened after a bushfire blocked the road in both directions north of Phoenix on Monday afternoon. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the bushfire lit around 3 p.m., blocking the lanes of I-17 heading north near Sunset Point. Shortly afterwards, around 3:20 p.m., ADOT closed the lanes to the south. The motorway was opened again shortly before 5 p.m. (Source: Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical) CHECK CURRENT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS HERE The bolts of the Daisy Mountain Fire Department are fighting the flames, saying this is an initial bushfire alarm. The Bureau of Land Management says they named the fire Point Fire and it is currently 80 acres. (Source: Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical) It is not clear what started the fire.
