PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A man died Saturday morning after an accident in the 19th Avenue and Grant Street area. Phoenix Police Sgt. Maggie Cox says it happened around 5 a.m. when officers responded to a two-vehicle accident. Cox says investigators learned that a 1982 Toyota pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Miguel Hernandez Solorio was traveling north on 19th Avenue and failed to stop at a red light, when she was hit by a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 21-year-old man. The Phoenix fire responded and locally pronounced Solorio dead. Cox says he was unbuckled and was ejected during the accident. The 21-year-old man stayed on site and cooperated with the police. There was no sign of impairment. This investigation is ongoing. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
