PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – A 6 month old child has died in downtown Phoenix after a serious accident. Two children and several adults were hospitalized in downtown Phoenix on Saturday night after a two-vehicle accident. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the crews reacted to the accident on 7th Street and Buckeye Road around 9 p.m. when they arrived. An infant and a 3-year-old boy were immediately rushed to hospital in extremely critical condition. The infant, identified as 6 month old Ivory Gerald, later died in the hospital. Police confirmed to the Arizona family that the child was not in a car seat at the time of the accident. A woman in her thirties, a woman in her twenties, and a man in his twenties were also taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Ford truck refused to be transported for medical treatment. Detectives believe the Ford pickup driver couldn’t stop at the red light when he collided with a GMC pickup truck driving west on Buckeye. Authorities do not believe that impairment was a factor. An investigation is still ongoing. Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft). All rights reserved.
