PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – St. Mary’s Food Bank and United Food Bank are helping Arizona residents in need of food aid this year by providing turkey and other holiday food outside of St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix Monday morning before Thanksgiving Day . St. Mary’s serves approximately 12,000 turkey and other holiday dishes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the grocery bank on 31st Avenue and Thomas Road. Across from St. Mary’s warehouse is the grocery bank collecting turkeys, food and donations from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The United Food Bank is distributing approximately 2,000 turkeys at the Mesa Convention Center on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Desert Financial Credit Union donated $ 50,000 to United Food Bank to match the number of turkeys donated by the community during their Tuesday event in Turkey on November 16. “We invest in helping the communities we live and work in,” said Jeff Meshey, president and CEO of Desert Financial Credit Union. “This also includes ensuring that people do not go hungry and that families can celebrate Thanksgiving after a difficult year dealing with a pandemic.” Copyright 2021 KPHO / KTVK (KPHO Rundfunkgesellschaft).
