Pain Proof Punks Roulette Sideshow Going out for a simple dinner and watching a movie feels downright exciting after months of being quiet while favorite restaurants and theaters were temporarily closed. That said, you might want to spice things up a little now that more artists are returning to the Valley stages. The Pain Proof Punks can help you with this because they have put together an evening of live music, burlesque, body painting, and sideshow-inspired performances called Roulette: A Sideshow of Chance. It will take place on Friday, August 6th, 9:00 p.m. to midnight at the Rock Live Pub, 8005 East Roosevelt Street, Scottsdale. Lauren Cusimano CreekWest Summerfest Cave Creek’s Frontier Town hosts the CreekWest Summerfest every first Saturday of the month. This weekend, August 7th, 3pm to 8pm, head to 6245 East Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek for a family-friendly event that includes a bouncy castle, waterslides, live music, and drive-in theaters. Stroll around town to local eateries like Bryan’s Black Mountain Barbecue and Local Jonny’s for great dining. The proceeds of the day will go to the Desert Foothills Land Trust. Julie Levin Mixed Martial Arts If you’re still looking for ways to shrug off the Phoenix Suns’ recent championship defeat or miss out on all that sports coverage during the Olympics, try something different at select Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas. They are showing a mixed martial arts mashup between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane taking place in Texas on Saturday, August 7th. It’s part of UFC 265, which also includes contenders Amanda Nunes and Julianna Peña. Electric Feels: Indie Rock + Indie Dance Party If you want to put together a list of the most danceable indie songs of all time, chances are you will find tracks like “Midnight City” by M83, “Elephant” by Tame Impala and the MGMT hit “Kids “Recorded for their infectious beats and energetic vibes. For the same reason, on Saturday August 7th, during Electric Feels: Indie Rock + Indie Dance Party, you’ll hear the same anthems from the sound system at the Marquee Theater, 730 North Mill Avenue. The touring event for ages 18+ features a mix of DJs and live elements playing a soundtrack of indie hits while a crowd of dancers move to the beats under a series of colorful clouds. Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum ‘The Uncolonized’ exhibit There is a parallel universe in a gallery space at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, 1 East Main Street, Mesa, where Texas-based artist Angel Cabrales envisions America without colonization. Inspired by science fiction, the artist features sculptures, installation art, and an elaborate timeline that celebrates “the cultural heritage and technological achievements” of the Native Americans. Sunday August 8th is your last chance to see this fascinating exhibition along with three other exhibits at the museum. The opening times are on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., admission is free. A-Trak While most of the Valley’s residents spend their Sundays dreading going back to work, Maya Dayclub guests, 7333 East Indian Plaza, are busy living it and turning to electronic dance music. The club’s weekly Sunday Drip Pool Party is great fun in the sun both in and out of the water, with the crowd to see and be seen drinking drinks, popping bottles and showing off their dance moves as guest DJs put off beats. This weekend’s session on Sunday August 8th will include a pair of EDM superstar A-Trak, founder of the influential record label Fool’s Gold, for two. The gates open at noon. The Valley Indoor Football League franchise has won eight of its last ten games, is unbeaten at home, and is currently at the top of the league table. So it’s safe to say they won’t sweat their upcoming game against the Tucson Sugar Skulls on Sunday August 8th at the Footprint Center at 201 East Jefferson Street. The Rattlers (9-2) have beaten the Sugar Skulls (4-7) twice this season, including a 54-38 drubbing last month that hit Arizona quarterback Drew Powell a season high of 173 yards and five touchdowns Has. However, Tucson is likely to struggle as the team hopes to keep their post-season dreams alive with a win over their state rivals. Kick-off is at 3 p.m. and tickets cost between $ 16 and $ 90.
