The downtown Phoenix skyline is constantly evolving. Stand on any corner and you will likely see a construction project in progress. Here are 15 downtown Phoenix construction projects currently underway that are likely to change the way we live, work, and play in the city. When completed, the project will be one of the largest private public art installations in Phoenix. Aspire Fillmore A 17 story 254 unit apartment complex from Aspirant Development is in full swing on the northeast corner of Fillmore Street and Third Avenue. The project will have retail and luxury furnishings on the ground floor. ASU Dormitory and Entrepreneurship Center ASU Dormitory and Entrepreneurship Center Arizona State University is nearly complete construction of its newest dormitory and education building in downtown Phoenix. This 16-story, 283,000-square-foot building will house 532 high school and graduate students and also includes academic rooms. Estimated completion: August 2021 Derby Transwestern Development Company has started construction of Derby, a unique micro-project in the heart of Roosevelt Row. The project will be a 21-story high-rise building with 222 residential units on six floors of above-ground parking spaces. All units will be delivered furnished and will average 350-400 square meters. EcoPhx EcoPhx Habitat Metro has laid the foundation stone for 70 specifically sustainable homes on the southwest corner of 3rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street. The completed 5-story project will include over 3,300 square feet of retail space, solar energy use, a car sharing program, greywater recycling and other traditional residential facilities. Home2 Suites Currently under construction on 2nd Street and Jackson, this hotel will be the first newly built commercial building in the emerging warehouse district in years. The completed project will activate a long empty historical structure into the final building and will comprise 149 rooms. Hyatt Place A former parking lot on the northwest corner of Adams and 2nd Avenue will soon become a new 8-story, 240-room Hyatt Place. The Mortenson Company is almost complete construction on the project. Opening date: October 2021 Mercer on Fillmore Mercer on Fillmore Trammel Crow broke ground for the first phase of a $ 140 million mixed-use project between 4th-6th Avenue at the front of Fillmore. Mercer on Fillmore will include 342 units of retail and recreational space on the ground floor on the southwest corner of 4th Avenue and Fillmore. The second phase comprises 350 residential units. Estimated completion: Q4 2021 Moontower PHX developer Lincoln Ventures has started construction of a new 24-story apartment building with 326 units in one of the most recent construction projects in downtown Phoenix. The project will feature luxury amenities and retail on the ground floor. Estimated completion: June 2023 Portland Broadstone Portland Broadstone Located on the northeast corner of Portland and 3rd Street, Alliance Residential is building a 5-story apartment project with 162 units. The development will add vibrancy to neighboring Roosevelt Row with luxury amenities and retail outlets on the ground floor. Estimated completion: early 2021 Portrait of the park Phase III The Transwestern Development Company recently completed construction of 2 phases of a housing estate on 3rd Street and Willetta and started construction on Phase 3. The latest project, which is currently under construction, will include 209 residential units, an attached parking garage and retail outlets on the ground floor. The Battery The Battery This 276-unit mixed-use project by JMA Ventures, LLC completes construction. Located between 3rd and 4th Street and Buchanan in the Warehouse District, the project will include rental apartments and commercial space. Two historic buildings will be preserved and activated as retail stores. Estimated completion: September 2021 Rey developer, Fore Property, began work on this medium-sized apartment building project on the southwest corner of 2nd Avenue and Fillmore in early 2020. The 7 story development will include 323 apartment units and retail stores on the ground floor. Estimated opening: March 2022 The Thunderbird School of Global Management Arizona State University will be founded entirely in Downtown Phoenix and has invested over $ 219 million to create the campus for over 13,000 students. The world famous Thunderbird School of Global Management is currently under construction on 1st Street and Polk. Chicago-based development company The X Company, headquartered in Chicago, is well on its way to building its X Community product in downtown Phoenix on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Monroe. Phase 1 of this co-living, 20-story apartment project will include 506 beds, an expansive pool deck and retail outlets on the ground floor. The pre-letting started in July.
